The bishop's chair is fashioned from timber taken from St. Gerard's School in Govan and incorporates aspects of the Glasgow coat of arms with two fish supporting a Celtic cross. The bishop's hat and crossed bishops' crommocks commemorate the meeting of Mungo and Columba, who exchanged crommocks as a demonstration of friendship.
